The Opportunity: Security Incident Student Internship

Are you currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program that includes a mandatory internship placement?

Do you have an interest in understanding security events and security incidents management process in in a highly complex environment and how respond, triage, mitigate and restore service as part of Sun Life SIRT Team?

Our Sun Life Security Incident Internship program offers an unparalleled chance to immerse yourself in the world of cyber security incident management.

This role is not just about responding to security Incidents; It’s about understanding why security incidents happens, how the use of frameworks like NIST as part of the triage process is key, and how we effectively respond as a SIRT team in a large enterprise environment.

You will gain invaluable practical experience, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application.

What we’re looking for in an Intern

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in cybersecurity, computer Science, information technology, or a related field.

Foundational understanding of cyber security and cyber security incident management.

Understanding of common cybersecurity Incident and regular incident frameworks such as NIST, ITIL and various Security tools like SIEM, EDR, WAF, MFA, MS Entra, and vendor management.

Eagerness to learn, a proactive attitude, and excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
