Your Team: The Irish Sun Online is one of the biggest mobile news brands in Ireland – and still growing! – with a talented, award-winning team who publish the best coverage of news, sport, TV and showbiz, lifestyle and family value.

Your Role: At a time of significant digital growth and expansion for The Irish Sun Online we’re looking for a talented, highly motivated, resourceful individual, with a deep knowledge of social media platforms and current affairs to join our award winning team.

Day to day you will:

  • Play a key role in the ongoing development and execution of The Irish Sun’s social media strategy.
  • Curate content from across thesun.ie to satisfy a diverse range of audience demographics.
  • Edit and maintain The Irish Sun’s social media channels to a high standard in close conjunction with the rest of the team.
  • Contribute to The Irish Sun’s adoption of emerging social platforms and tools, and take responsibility for the growth of The Irish Sun’s new social channels.
  • Work directly with editorial, digital, video, picture, design, podcast, commercial and marketing teams, ensuring their respective demands are met on various projects and promotions, as well as liaising with teams across the wider Sun brand
  • As a team, ensure the newsroom has sufficient insight to produce internet-friendly stories, and take responsibility for their subsequent distribution on social media channels.
  • Focus on targets and be clear on what is required in order to meet them.
  • Drive social media video strategy, identifying content potential in order to drive engagement, maximising watch time and revenue
  • Ensure content shared on social media platforms adheres to respective community guidelines and doesn’t breach rules around copyright infringement with a clear understanding of fair use, AI checks, compliance, rules around violence and gambling, and legal issues.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms and current affairs
  • Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard
  • Proactive and displays a willingness to take on any task
  • Positive attitude and good team player
  • Takes initiative in order to achieve desired results
  • Self-starter, organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the The Irish Sun brand, both print and digital
